When You Get That Feeling...

"Let's talk about sex baby, let's talk about you and me"....

On that note, Teddy Pendergrass died last week. I'm pretty sure most of you know this by now. I found out the night of his death because a friend of mine put as her status on Facebook "T-pain died". That’s how we all find out deaths nowadays. It’s the best when people are mistaken about celebrity deaths and say, "R.I.P. Such-and-such superstar" and others don’t Google to make sure. Then, there’s a nationwide (facebook wide) rumor that someone’s dead.
Anyways, she mistook one of T-Pain's nicknames for Teddy Pendergrass. There was a comment after her status that read, “he’s just an old ass singer”! Which is true, kinda. He wasn’t even 60 when he died. Mr. Pendergrass brought a lot to R&B & Soul—and deserves a post. "Turn Off the Lights", wooooweeee, now that’s a SLOOOWWW JIIIIZZAAMMMM! Lol, I remember going on one of our Arizona roadtrips, and this would be on my dad’s CDs. Part of his “cool” collection of music. And everytime it came on, he would tease my mom (who we have an ongoing joke about—because she was the 70s queen—and supposedly rejected all things secular in the 80s because she became God-fearing…but she still can’t resist her Marvin Gaye..etc)
Basically, I just want to say... Thank you Mr. Pendergrass for making Bomb, Beautiful, &Brilliant music.

Following this, I want to make a couple of music plugs:

If you go to the Itunes Store, you'll see that Contra, the newest album from Vampire Weekend, is number two (due to it's sudden bump from #1 because of the Hope for Haiti album) on the Top Albums List. Vampire Weekend continues to impress, and I'm absolutely in love with their single "Cousins"--it's pretty much genius status. Also you have to..please do..check out the Mumlers when you're on there. They are the definition of cool. Their single "Don't Throw Me Away"....man... I'm going to upload it to my page soon--they got Soul, that's all I got to say.
Last but not least, I want to circle back around to the first sentence of this post---Check out this video by Still Trill  Christians:

Oppose to the usual mysoginistic, ho-ish lyrics we hear nowadays, we have here a radical message of dare I say...abstinence? Oh my. Hey, we're human...we're sexual beings and like Marvin Gaye says, "Let's stop beating around the bush"-- there's nothing wrong talking about sex or doing it for that matter, but as these young talents suggest, there is the right moment to "get it on".
